Why we exist

The ocean is the beating heart of our planet. A thriving ocean provides for over 3 billion people and plays a key role in fighting climate change.

We want a world where people feel as connected to the ocean as they do to the land. A world where the ocean can recover — and all life can thrive.

Ocean ecosystems have an incredible ability to recover — if we give them the chance. But no one can do it alone. Real change takes collective effort, and individual action comes in many forms.

That’s why we’ve created a central, open hub for everyone to access tools, knowledge, and ideas to protect the ocean.

Who we are

We’re a small team of ocean advocates from around the world, volunteering our time to run Ocean Action. We all connected through Terra.do, the world’s largest platform for climate action.

Each of us started out feeling lost and overwhelmed, unsure where to begin or what to do to protect the ocean. So we built the hub we wish we’d had when we first set out on our ocean journeys.

We aren’t limited by geography, organisation type, or specific focus areas. We don’t compete or gatekeep — we collaborate.

Taking action to protect the ocean can feel daunting. We’re here to help you find your way — and remind you that you’re not alone.
